The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) protects employees from workplace discrimination and has authority to investigate, bring charges, conduct workplace audits and impose penalties. It also gives employers guidance and tools to keep discrimination out of the workplace.

This 90-minute EEOC audit preparation webinar explains how the EEOC sets enforcement initiatives every five years, known as the Strategic Enforcement Priorities (SEP), in line with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and publishes them online. It also covers the EEO Digest, a quarterly publication from the Office of Federal Operations (OFO) that summarizes EEOC decisions and federal court cases of interest.

You'll see how these resources help employers anticipate the next enforcement trend, how the same resources help employees file complaints, and what the audit process looks like.

  • Explain the EEOC's authority to investigate, audit and penalize employers
  • Use the Strategic Enforcement Priorities and EEO Digest to anticipate enforcement trends
  • Reduce risk in response to EEOC initiatives and updates
  • Identify additional regulations that apply to federal contractors
  • Conduct an internal audit of pay practices
  • Prepare for the process of an EEOC or OFCCP audit

  • Historical perspective on the EEOC and the authority it holds over employers
  • Using EEOC website resources to support workplace compliance
  • How the same resources help employees file complaints against employers
  • The connection between the Civil Rights Act and the EEOC
  • The EEOC and pay equity
  • The current EEOC Strategic Enforcement Priorities and their focus areas
  • Additional requirements for federal contractors
  • The relationship between the EEOC and the OFCCP and a possible merger
  • Internal audits of pay practices
  • The process if you are audited by the EEOC or OFCCP

Knowing where the EEOC is focusing lets you prepare before an investigation or audit begins. This session shows how to use the agency's own published resources to reduce risk, how an internal audit of pay practices can build trust with employees, and what to expect if the EEOC or OFCCP audits you.

It suits HR and compliance professionals, employers and business owners, executives, managers and supervisors, and anyone who handles employee relations issues.
